Boris Johnson revealed plans for a deposit return scheme in the Queen’s Speech, meaning consumers could benefit from a 20p cash deposit in return for recycling their plastic bottles and cans in a reverse vending machine. The UK is committed to achieving net zero by 2050 and is striving to lead the way in the lead up to the COP26 summit in Glasgow later this year.
